Sealing Pavers

Pavers are made of porous materials. Left unsealed, pavers will absorb and retain water for long periods; creating the ideal situation for mold and mildew to grow. Unsealed pavers will also absorb fertilizers, oil, rust, etc. causing unsightly stains. Stains allowed to remain on the pavers will penetrate deeply into the pores of the stone and cause the stains to become more difficult, if not impossible, to remove. Unsealed pavers will suffer from fading, discolorations, and deterioration from the rays of our harsh Florida sun. Sealing pavers will preserve, but not conceal, the natural beauty of the stone. The natural color of the pavers will actually be enhanced, making them come alive. Sealant will act as a repellant and eliminate the absorption of water, stains, and mold and mildew spores, while acting as a sunscreen to protect and preserve. Pavers are a beautiful investment in your home, and sealing is the most efficient way to protect that investment.

Sealing pavers is a 3-part process, taking approximately 2 days. First, the pavers are pressure cleaned, chlorinates, and acid washed. The acid washing opens the pores and enables the sealer to penetrate the stone. Second, the pavers need to completely dry. During this time, the area must not be utilized to ensure it will remain clean for the sealing process. Third, the area is sealed using two coats of a high quality xylene based acrylic sealant.

Drying generally will take about 24 hours, weather permitting, allowing the entire process to to be completed in about two days - please ensure that sprinklers are turned off. After 24 hours, the area may be walked on and used with care. Driveways can be driven across to access the garage after 48 to 72 hours, but parking or turning the wheels while the car is stationary should be avoided for about one week.

Stamped Concrete Sealing

Stamped concrete is a beautiful surface for driveways and pool decks. Concrete is poured, leveled, and a colored powder is applied, making the concrete one solid color. The concrete is then stamped with a rubber stamp of a chosen pattern with a release agent of a contrasting color applied to the stamp, creating a unique design and two-tone effect. A clear xylene based sealer is then applied to protect the stamped surface.

TWith time, weather, and traffic, the sealer will begin to deteriorate, leaving the stamped concrete unprotected. If left unprotected, colors will eventually wear off and the beauty of the surface will diminish. Though damage to the color can be improved, it cannot be repaired. Therefore, it is recommended that stamped concrete be resealed every three years. Routinely sealing stamped concrete will preserve its natural beauty indefinitely.

Sealing stamped concrete is a 3-part process, taking approximately 2 days. First, the concrete is pressure cleaned, chlorinated, and acid washed to remove stains that normally would not come up with regular pressure washing. Second, the area is allowed to completely dry. During this time, the area must not be utilized to ensure it will remain clean for the sealing process. Third, the area is sealed using two coats of a high quality xylene based sealer.

You may have notices that stamped concrete can be slippery when it is wet, so we add "SharkGrip," a slip-resistant additive to the second coat.

Drying will generally take about 24 hours, weather permitting, allowing the entire process to be completed in two days. After 24 hours, the area may be walked on and used with care.
